Snow pea with sausage is another very simple dish but it tastes good. It’s typical home-style cooking and common throughout China. Snow peas are also called “helan dou” or Dutch beans in China. We use a Cantonese style sweet sausage for this dish.

Stir fried snow peas with sweet sausage (pinyin: lawei chao helan dou, chinese: 腊味炒荷兰豆)
Ingredients:
- One or two small sweet Cantonese sausages
- Snow peas (helan dou)
Prepare:
- cut the sausages in thin slices
- remove the thread from the snow peas (optional)
Cooking:
- Heat some oil in a wok
- add the sliced sausage and snow peas
- Keep stirring and if the wok becomes too dry, add a few tablespoons of water
- Add some salt to taste and a little bit of soy sauce (spoon or so)
- Cook until the beans are soft, eat immediately
Note:
- you can use smoked pork as well for a totally different flavor
- very easy to make
- it’s important to use good quality sausages, because it will give lots of flavor to the dish
- sausage can be a little bit fat, most of the fat will go out of the meat during cooking

Simple yet still delicious Chinese dish with a Dutch influence 🙂
