| Athletics at Universiade |
Yesterday I went to the second day of the athletics competition for the Universiade in Longgang district. It was a very beautiful and hot Shenzhen summer day. I was sitting close to the Women's far jump, but could also see the track events good. During the 10K there was a Russian athlete who was way faster than everyone else from lap 1. He lapped most athletes and number 2 (a Japanese runner) was more than 150 meters behind. Two laps before the end I noticed he started to run more difficult, but with 1 lap to go he still had a big lead.  10K men Then suddenly just before us he couldn't run at all anymore and with only 150 meters to go he even collapsed and had to be carried of the track! He was drinking and taking water all the time, so that should not have been a factor, but who knows... Good luck to all the athletes for the next couple of hot days! The event was not sold out by the way. During the peak it was about 60-70% full I guess and many people bought tickets at the entrance.  The stadium. There were free shuttle buses from the metro station to the stadium  Nobody wanted to sit in the sun (understandably!). Around 18h the sun went away though. Important to bring a good umbrella against the sun!  Funny, removing a hammer that was stuck very high  My Chinese neighbors brought their own food. Not a bad idea!  Evaluation with the coach. This Russian ended on 2nd place I believe  meanwhile they were still eating, they brought a whole dinner!  First row reserved for athletes and coaches  Preparing water for the 10K men  Russian (who would later collapse) and two Japanese runners  Support for the Japanese (baby and parents)  Russian collapses in the last corner  400 meter Decathlon  Going home, stadiums were beautiful  Last view at the stadium. I walked back to the metro afterwards. Home late, but it was nice to attend.
