Shenzhen Museum’s new venue at the Citizens’ Center. The Exhibition hall of ancient Shenzhen, covering an area of 731 square meters, is displayed on the second floor. This Exhibition consists of five parts, namely The Predecessor’s Footmark, Beginning of the City, Marine Economy, An Important Strategic Town on Coastal Defence and Ancient Immigration. The Exhibition hall of modern Shenzhen, covering an area of 1294 square meters, is displayed on the second floor. Kowloon Sea Battle in Shenzhen, the opening skirmish to the Opium War unveiled the history of Modern China. The Exhibition of Modern Shenzhen mainly presents Shenzhen’s history spanning from Kowloon Sea Battle in 1839 to the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Theme of the Exhibition is structured with two subjects. One is the struggling and fighting against invasion, feudalism and crony capitalism. The other is the development of social economy and ordinary people’s life. The Exhibition of Shenzhen’s reform and opening-up history, covering an area of 2616 square meters, is presented on the third floor.
