Guan Shanyue Art Museum (关山月美术馆) is a national art museum in Futian district, near the Civic Center. We went for the first time to the museum at Saturday the 10th of July 2010. It's housed in a modern building that was opened in 1997. Lots of marble inside, but it seems most of the building is not used strangely enough. When we went there, there were two exhibitions: one of traditional Chinese ink paintaings, and the other of peasant paintings. These paintings were the reason why I wanted to go, below you can see why! Verdict: 7/10
It really depends on the quality of the exhibition of course. I didn't really like the traditional ink paintings, but we both really liked the Peasant Paintings a lot. The building is clean, quiet and cool, good for a hot summers day. On the website of the museum they announce the current exhibitions.
How to get there? Metro line 4 to Shao Nian Gong (Children's Palace) and then take exit B. Then you cross the big road and just to the east of the big park you find the museum. It's a bit to the north of the civic center, at the bottom of the park with the statue of Deng Xiaopeng on top. You can also take busses 10, K12, 14, 25, 34, 105, 215, 228, 111, 322, 238, 350, 371 or mini-busses 441, 451, 420, 468, 502, 507.
