European Bar Street

The European bar street is located next to Window of the World and you cannot really miss it when you pass Window of the World. It consists of 3 small streets with lots of pubs/bars. The houses are all in European style, hence the name. During the daytime you can sit in a terrace, but during the evening the place gets more alive.

Guan Shanyue Art Museum
Guan Shanyue Art Museum (关山月美术馆) is a national art museum in Futian district, near the Civic Center. We went for the first time to the museum at Saturday the 10th of July 2010. It's housed in a modern building that was opened in 1997. Lots of marble inside, but it seems most of the building is not used strangely enough. When we went there, there were two exhibitions: one of traditional Chinese ink paintaings, and the other of peasant paintings. These paintings were the reason why I wanted to go, below you can see why!

KTV

Karaoke, or KTV as it is known in China, is also very popular in Shenzhen. I don't like to sing (because I cannot keep a tune), but my girlfriend likes to go. Some good ones according to her:

"Party World" , close to Citic plaza in Futian district. Relatively expensive

"California Red" (JiaZhouHong) many places in Nanshan and Futian. Average price

OCT Art&Design Gallery
The OCT Art&Design Gallery is located at the OCT (overseas chinese town) in Nanshan district, near Window of the World and Splendid China. The building has a very special honeycomb-like outer structure. The inside consists of a small shop and three floors for exhibitions. We went there to see some works of painters from Dafen who showed their work under the name "more than just a copy".

Poly Theater

Poly Theater, better known as 'the Egg' in Shenzhen because of the shape of the building, is located in Nanshan district close to the new bridge to Hong Kong. Next to Poly Theater is the Coastal City shopping complex .  The theater is less big than I expected, but is very modern and has good facilities. Chairs are comfortable, light was great, sound was good.

Shenzhen Children's Palace
Shenzhen Children's Palace is a huge activity center for children aged about 5-12 in Shenzhen. In fact, although you can enter without kids, you do need to bring kids to go to the activity areas. We saw little girls in dancing outfits, karate suits, a big queue for Energy's world, but also serious stuff like robotics etc. The building has a very futuristic design and is located just to the north of the Civic Center and to the east of the Book City.
